The bathroom has been the passion for Laufen for 120 years. Out of the sober Swiss design language of the early days has grown an International language that cannot deny its Swiss roots or the influence of the German and Italian design schools.

Over the years the factory in the Basel canton developed into the global manufacturer of bathroom ceramics and the only Swiss one. The company still bears the name of the community where it was founded: Laufen. Today the designer pieces processed from ceramic and the corresponding bathroom fittings made by the company are “made in Switzerland” export favourites worldwide. These products make the bathroom beautiful, practical and comfortable. Behind this success story are typical Swiss virtues, as well as a wealth of valuable experience in ceramics.

The company’s core competence is its knowledge in the area of sanitaryware manufacturing. Over 120 years, the Laufen brand has been making innovative sanitary products with legendary Swiss precision.

Laufen employs a workforce of 1,800 with seven factories located in Switzerland, Austria and the Czech Republic and produces 3 million ceramic items per year. It boasts collaborations with important partners like the design companies Kartell and Alessi and internationally well-known designers such as Konstantin Grcic, ps+a/Ludovica and Roberto Palomba (Palomba Collection, Kartell by Laufen), Stefano Giovannoni (ILBAGNOALESSI One), Toan Nguyen, Wiel Arets (ILBAGNOALESSI dOt), Hartmut Esslinger/Frog Design, Platinum Design, Phoenix Design and Vetica Design.
